Five of us braved the early start last Sunday. Bob was in the lead this week so of course the first stop was to Batavia Café for a cup of double espresso.  Taking the direct route thru the centre of Jakarta was an interesting ride as it was No Car Day in Sudirman and the array of people on push bikes and marching groups was different to say the least. Duly refreshed we made it down to Ancol to take some shots. These will be featured over the next few weeks in a new section called “Bike of the Week”. Keep Tuned…..

I had promised to take some other shots of bikes so we headed back to South Jakarta. Along the way in Menteng we stopped and decided that a short bypass to Mad Dogs was in order. Unfortunately Jean did not hear the change of plans and he carried on past Mad Dogs while we tried to stop him. He called on our second beer trying to find out where we had gone!

The gang split up at that stage and I went on to Mike Mc Gowens place to take some shots of his Sportster. Then to Tom Barretts place to do the same and finally to Mike Claytons for one last shot.

As it was still light I decided to take some back roads out from Mikes place just for a look see and ended up in the middle of a game of soccer and a dead end. Coming back out thro the labyrinth of small roads I turned a corner and two expats were standing in the middle of the road. Behold one of them was Mike McGowen ! He was visiting friends and heard a Harley go past and they knew it was all dead ends ahead so they waited out front to see who would come back.

12 Million people and you get lost and end up running into somebody that you left two hours ago in a completely different spot. Small town.
