Bus City

Gerrard had a farewell get together the night and morning before the ride so several members decided to just meet at 12.00 noon. That left 5 bikes at the station at 7.00AM.  Jean wanted to go up to the top of Punchak Pass for breakfast. We headed thru the normal route past Permata Sentul and up thru to Bogor. Bob and Hans pulled out as we got to the Punchak road as they had lunch appointments. Up till then we had had an easy ride and everybody was relaxed. Turning onto the road going up to Punchak we joined a line of busses. No problems as we are on bikes right?

Wrong… After going about 1 Km up the hill past a solid line of busses and busses overtaking busses overtaking busses inter dispersed with the occasional car coming down the hill I pulled over. This was dangerous and having the next 15 KM like this only to turn around and fight them coming down the hill again was not going to be fun. Alan, Nancy and Jean quickly agreed to turn around and so we headed back to a golf course for coffee and food. How anybody can enjoy a bus ride like that only to get to the top have lunch and do the same thing coming down the hill is beyond me

The three bikes then ambled thru the hills and back to Jakarta. Nice to have a small group for a change and to just putt around and get a better look at the scenery was also a refreshing change. Caught up with the stragglers at MD and some were rumored to venture into the Blok after that.
