Mike’s “GREAT WHITE HOPE”

Only Hans and Clive braved the elements today with a quick trip to Sentul. Seeing as we still have plenty of space left to fill this is Mike Gila’s 1982 Shovelhead.

 

In (almost) Mikes words this is how it happened:

“I received it in a back of a truck after having bought it from a friend sight unseen for quite some time. It was a total wreck and my brother, John, took on the project of rebuilding it. It wasn’t originally a Police special, it was a convertible, with a clip on trunk and fairing. I didn’t much like the original model so I sent a picture of a 1982 Police Special to my brother which I fell in love with. (see smaller picture below)

John, who by the way has ridden with the Yayasan HOG a few times during visits, put the picture up on the garage wall and went to work. He completely dismantled the bike to bare frame and sent the engine and tranny out to be rebuilt by a pro. He did everything else himself except the paint job. This bike is now the best bike in the world and we call it The Great White Hope”
