Good start to the day as Jacks bike had no spark at the station. A quick tighten of the battery cables and we were away. I had found the missing link road between Bintaro and BSD so heading out thru all the sectors of Bintaro we were soon past the toll road in Serpong. Most of the riders were already totally lost but in fact we were close to the airport. Quick stop to stretch the legs and then, off straight to the beach. The markets were still going but we were making good time anyway. About 5 Km from the beach Christian had a flat tire on his bike. Pulling into a local tire place with 9 Harleys ( and one BMW for those of you with sharp eyes , see photo above) caused quite a commotion. Then, when that Harley has a 330 back tire which is bigger than all the local Kijang tires in the vicinity things get really interesting. I think the crowd got to about 90 at one stage. Anyway, loosening the exhaust, axel out, caliper loose and still cannot get the rear rim off. |

Next, rear drive socket off and presto the rim comes off. As the rim started out as a car rim it had a tube in it. The nipple was completely torn out of the tube. New tube and a quick rebuild of the rear of the bike and Dave, Christian and myself caught up with the others who had gone on the beach. Thankfully they had left a couple of refreshments for us so all was well and dandy. As you can see it was a bright and sunny day at this stage. Collecting our thoughts, which is not easy when Clive is along, we headed home. Almost to BSD it suddenly got VERY dark and sure enough it down poured. Stopping to have some more interaction with the locals it stopped raining about 20 minutes later and we set off again. However, it soon dumped down again and we were all soaked by this stage. Keeping going we rode thru the rain and by the time we got back to Bintaro the road was dry. Stopping at F39 for debriefing we headed our own ways. Despite the rain a great day and a new ride for many |
