Brotherhood Ride to Bandung

Every year there is what is possibly the biggest bike gathering in Indonesia, The Brotherhood Bandung Meeting. Bandung is 2 hours by toll road from Jakarta. Unfortunately we cannot use the toll roads as bikes are not allowed on them. So we set out on the 6 hour ride at 6.30 AM. Cruising trouble free up past Sentul and to Rainbow Hills golf course where we took a quick break and drained some oil out of Simons bike that had been overfilled buy some vespa mechanic. However, no damage done and then enjoyed the ride up o Punchak  Pass where we mew Steve and Ralph. Now totaling 16 bikes we set off to Bandung.

The weather was great for riding and we make good time with a stop for fuel and refreshments along the way. John had to catch a group of six riders why blissfully sailed past the petrol station where everybody else had stopped. Soon together again the group enjoyed getting into 5 th gear for a change along what were mostly good roads.

Getting into Bandung was a nightmare thru traffic and the group totally disintegrated. But thanks to some locals we somehow all managed to end up together at the right hotel. After cooling down we headed out to the main event around dusk. Fantastic to see a whole bunch of rare and old bikes there and  various entertainment was provided for those who could get out of their chairs. Everybody made if back to the hotel under their own steam and the group was ready to mount up again around 8.30 the next morning. John and Steve stayed on for an extra day and enjoyed a two bike ride back to Jakarta on Monday afternoon. 

The ride back  was just as good as the trip down and excellent to see no major problems with any of the bikes. Thanks to all those who made it a great weekend and hopefully this will revive some weekend rides for the club.
