Helping Indonesian Children with Birth Defects

Many children are born with birth defects in Indonesia. Some, but not all of these defects, require Cranial Facial Reconstructive surgery. Many families cannot afford these operations. Without operations these children will become “outcasts” in their own society. Some of these children live with their hands in front of their mouths hiding their facial features. These are the Indonesian children you can help.

Since 1987, Yayasan, Indonesia Chapter, Harley Owners Group (HOG) has changed the lives of well over 1,100 under privileged children in Indonesia through harelip surgery. By the end of 2009 we hope this number will be exceed 1,300.We have donated padi seeds to farmers in Subang. Yayasan HOG has also provided school fees, books and uniforms to children in Banuwangi and desks and chairs to a school in Bekasi. We support 30 children at an orphanage in Jakarta by providing a monthly contribution of baby food, milk, clothes, rice, sugar soap, talcum powder and other daily needs. The support, donations and sponsorship, of the HOGFEST has really made an enormous difference to young lives in this country.

Last year, through one of our Yayasan Members, we have we were instrumental in performing operations on four young children in Duri, Central Sumatra.

No money at all is spent on administration, banking fees, printing, employees, mailing of invitations etc from the monies raised.

The surgical team, headed by Dr Gentur, fully donate their skills and time to the operations free of charge. The only costs incurred are the hospital, medical supplies and nursing staff. This maximises the effect that your donations have on bettering children’s lives.

The corporate sponsorship and support for the HOGFEST is the key to the event’s success and ultimately the changing of many lives that would otherwise be unthinkable. In 2008 the support from many companies and individuals in Indonesia set a new standard for this fund raising event.

Sponsorship Opportunities

The main event of the HOGFEST gathers over 600 people from the Jakarta business community. This group comes to the event to socialise with friends and support the charity of the Yayasan HOG.

The HOGFEST offers sponsorship banners that are used to decorate the Manggala Wanabhakti building on the night of the party. The 2009 HogFest will be held on Saturday April 4th, 2009. The banners are of different sizes under the description of different size Harley Davidson motorcycles, commensurate with the respective sponsorship.
